Dustin's love for sports started at a young age. Growing up in North Texas near Dallas, he was always able to watch teams such as the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, Dallas Mavericks and, of course, Texas High School football. Dustin had a good high school football career as a quarterback and went on to play college football for St. Ambrose University.
While at St. Ambrose, Dustin found a passion for sports broadcasting. He produced and anchored "Dateline SAU's" weekly sports segment. He also wrote, shot, and edit the majority of the stories. Dustin hosted a weekly coaches show as well. In 2015, he took home awards from the Iowa Broadcast News Association's annual contest in the categories of best sportscast and best sports coverage.
On summer breaks from school, Dustin worked at KTEN news in Denison, TX. He was an assignment editor whose responsibilities included: conducting morning and afternoon news meetings, working with reporters to enterprise story ides, checking the wires, making beat calls, posting visual content and stories to the web, keeping up with daily assignments, shooting video for news and sports, running live shots with a TVU, and helping direct live shots from the control room. Dustin also filled-in as a weekend sports anchor when asked, writing, editing, and producing the sportscast.
Dustin has also worked as a sports intern for KXII-TV in Sherman, TX and as a Highlight Zone intern for KWQC in Davenport, IA.
